Below is a brief history of the Friends from its inception to the decision in January 2019 to close the Charity. Please see the Minutes and accompanying documents of the SGM of January 2019 and the EGM of September 2018 for details as to why the Charity has been wound up.
We have also updated the history of the Friends' cafe, and information on the names of The Display House and the Community Glasshouse.
The WOWGS cultivated in the kitchen garden prior to the garden being transferred to Grappenhall & Thelwall Parish Council. The booklet was published in 1995, and gives a brief history of Grappenhall, the Grappenhall Heys Estate, and the walled garden, as well as lots of ecological information. We were fortunate to be loaned a copy by John Campbell (see History - Glasshouse Names above).
